My name is Bingjiefu He. I am a photographer based in Jersey City.
Photography is an extension of my identities. I am a democratic socialist, a Chinese immigrant in between cultures, a wandering street photographer, and someone who grew up in the film industry, with my father being a leading figure among the so-called “Fifth Generation” film directors.
Each shot I take is an attempt to parse these disparate identities together to create something whole. I primarily embrace documentary and street photography, but I also take photos of musicians, artists, weddings, bat mitzvahs, and other interesting things.
