Portraits for Marc
You might have seen Marc in my previous blog post on VEHICLE/PASSENGER. As the lead vocalist of the band, Marc was super impressed with the shots that came out, and decided to book an individual portrait session with me. We decided on a combination of digital black and white and color film for the session. To fit Marc’s vibe, we decided to go with Fuji Velvia, a particularly tricky slide film that doesn’t play well with portraits but punches above its weight in terms of color.
We had no particular location in mind, so we decided to walk around lower Manhattan and see what we could find in the wild. The end photos, I think, speak for themselves. We shot in front of a power station, an abandoned lot, and at a busy intersection where we decided to do a long exposure and to just “see what it would look like.”
